UTD Men Come Close To Top Half Finish at ASC
McKINNEY, TX -
The UTD men's golf team came close, but could not overtake the top teams in the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament. UTD finished in seventh place, but just 15 strokes out of a top half finish in the eight-team field. Andrew Hughy (pictured) was the top individual finisher with a three-round total of 227, good enough for 11th place in the 40-player field (just 12 strokes behind the medalist). The UTD women's team, which finished last in a six-team field, was paced by Megan Cook's 23rd-place finish with a 198. RESULTS: MEN | WOMEN

Comets Slip Back To Finish
8th In Final Tuneup for ASC

LONGVIEW, TX -
The UTD golf team saw its scores dip each round at the LeTourneau Spring Classic, the final tuneup for next weekend's American Southwest Conference Tournament, and finished 8th in a 10-team field of squads from ASC schools. Andrew Hughey (pictured), however, improved his game after the opening round and finished in a tie for 16th, just 14 shots behind the tournament medalist. The UTD women's team finally got a full squad and used the tournament as a final tuneup.

Inconsistency Hurts Comets at West Regional

ROUND ROCK, TX -
The UTD golf team saw its weekend at the Division III West Region Invitational go from bad to worse as the Comets' scores took a jump in both the second and third rounds, leading to a 12th-place finish in the 13-team field. Brian Vaughn (pictured) got off to a nice start with a first-round 74, but had the same problem as his teammates, shooting a second-round 84 and finishing in the middle of the pack with a 235. STORY

Comets Take Fifth at Hendrix Spring Classic

DANVILLE, AR -
The UTD golf team held its own against some top-notch competition, finishing fifth among 10 quality teams at the Hendrix College Spring Classic Tournament. UTD's Charles Pantangco (pictured) set the pace for the Comets with back-to-back rounds of 73 to finish second in the medalist race. UTD finished at 613, just six strokes behind the two teams that tied for third. UT-Tyler won the meet with a 601. STORY

UTD Finishes 9th In Spring Opener
TEMPLE, TX -
The UTD golf team missed an opportunity to move up in the standings at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Spring Invitational on the second day, adding 13 strokes to their first-round total of 322 and finishing 53 strokes back in ninth place. The Comets' Brian Vaughn (pictured) did put together an impressive 154 (76-78) to finish in ninth place in the medalist chase, eight strokes back. The tournament featured 16 teams, primarily Division III, and almost 90 collegiate golfers. STORY

Wet Start Hurts Comets at UMHB Fall Meet
BELTON, TX -
Sophomore golfer Ryan Siddique and the rest of the UTD golf team had to fight off a poor opening round played in the rain to finish 16 spots back at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Fall Invitational Golf Tournament. Siddique bounced back after an opening round 81 to shoot a 73 on the second day, finishing in 33rd place. The Comets, as a team, had a 326 in the opening round, but knocked nine shots off the second day with a 317, finishing with a total of 643. STORY

UTD Finishes 8th at Bayou Classic
ALEXANDRIA, LA - UTD got a big lift from senior golfer Charles Pantangco and finished in 8th place in a tightly-packed field at the Bayou Classic Fall Tournament, hosted by Louisiana College. Pantangco shot a steady 73-75 to finish with a 36-hole total of 148 – good enough for 13th place in the medalist standings, just seven strokes back of the tournament winner. The Comets struggled on the first day with a 311, but shaved 10 strokes off their total on the second day to finish just a few strokes back of a significantly higher finish. Conference power Mary Hardin-Baylor won the tournament with a team total of 579, 33 strokes better than UTD's 612. STORY

Comet Golfer Finishes First at TLU
SEGUIN, TX - Sophomore golfer Ryan Siddique, a transfer from Texas Wesleyan, was the medalist at the John Bohmann Invitational Golf Tournament, hosted by Texas Lutheran University over the weekend. Siddique, a sophomore from Grapevine, shot a rain-shortened 136 on rounds of 67 and 69 to lead the UTD team. The rest of the Comets finished with a total of 599, good enough for seventh place in the 15-team field. Tyler Junior College won the tournament with a team score of 568. STORY

UTD Hires First Fulltime Golf Coach
Eddie Bull, a longtime high school golf coach from nearby Lake Highlands HS, has joined the UTD as its first fulltime golf coach. He will be responsible for building and maintaining both the men's and women's golf programs at the University of Texas at Dallas. STORY
