Comets One Win Away From Playoff Trip After Pounding Kangaroos

SHERMAN, TX - The University of Texas at Dallas men's basketball team continued its miraculous season turnaround Thursday night by winning its fourth straight game and eighth in the last 11, a dominating 73-40 victory over Austin College.

Jay Swafford (pictured) led the Comets by hitting five 3-point shots as UTD was 9-of-28 from beyond the arch. Swafford finished with 15 points while Kersh Milson had a 16-point night.

The win moved UTD (10-12, 10-9) a full 3-1/2 games up on their nearest challenger in the race for the fourth and final American Southwest Conference post-season playoff seed in the East Division. The Comets can clinch that spot with just one more win in its final three regular-season games.

The Thursday night game with Austin College wasn't much of a challenge. UTD used a 25-7 run to build a 35-12 halftime lead; then built the margin to as high as 37 points (66-29 with 4:56 remaining).

The Comets held AC to just 30.2% shooting, and forced the 'Roos into committing 26 turnovers.
