Comets Shut Out UMHB, Concordia
To Hang On To Lead in ASC

UT-Dallas 5, Univ. Mary Hardin-Baylor 0
UT-Dallas 5, Concordia-Austin 0

BELTON & AUSTIN, TX – The UTD Comets kept their undefeated American Southwest Conference record in tact this weekend with a pair of 5-0 shutouts over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Concordia-Austin Universities.

The victories keep UTD (9-4-2, 7-0-2) atop the ASC standings as the only team in the 14-team men's division without a loss in conference. UTD leads McMurry by just a single point in the standings (23-22), but has four games remaining to add to its totals while McMurry has just three matches remaining.

Against UMHB, Ali Morshedi, the team's leading scorer, did not score a goal in the game, but assisted on the first three scores as UTD jumped to a 2-0 lead on first-half goals by Petar Tomov and Keegan Millar. He also assisted on Brett Lynch's goal at the 58:00 mark to start putting the game out of reach.

Tadd Miller added a goal at the 79:00 mark on an assist from Shayne Rutherford. Zac Lindley capped off the scoring on an unassisted goal off a free kick with seven minutes left in the game.

Jason Hirsch (above) put the Saturday game with Concordia firmly in UTD's command with a hat-trick on the first three goals of the game. He scored on an assist from Lynch 10 minutes into the game, then picked up his second tally on a feed from Phillip Pizurro 12 minutes later. Hirsch got his third goal 20 minutes into the second half on a penalty kick. Samir Chaouche and Petar Tomov added goals in the final 18 minutes to ice the win.
