UTD Knocks Choctaws From Unbeaten Ranks; Then Rout Louisiana College

CLINTON, MS / PINEVILLE, LA - The UTD men's soccer team handed Mississippi College its first loss of the season Friday afternoon in a 3-0 win; then came back Saturday to steamroll Louisiana College, 11-0.

Ali Morshedi (right) scored the Comets' first goal Friday on an assist from Brett Lynch. He then added a pair of goals and two assists on Saturday as UTD (6-4-1, 4-0-1) ran away from Louisiana College.

The sweep improved UTD's American Southwest Conference record to 4-0-1, just behind league front-runner Hardin-Simmons, which is now 6-0. The two teams meet at UTD's field Friday night at 7 pm.

After Morshedi got the Comets's scoring started at Mississippi, freshman Rory Rahn scored on a feed from Jason Hirsch. Samir Chaouche finished the shutout with an unassisted goal.

Against Louisiana College, the deep UTD bench got into the act as eight different players scored, paced by Morshedi, Petar Tomov and John Hicks, who all had two goals each. Hirsch added a single goal along with Zac Lindley, Benjamin Gilmore, Landon Melcher and Greg Kachikis. Freshman goalie Kevin Atnip picked up a pair of shutouts for his work.
