Larry Holman Fills Out UTD Athletic Staff Vacancies
RICHARDSON, TX - Larry Holman has been appointed Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach/Head Women’s Golf Coach at the University of Texas at Dallas.
Holman, who served as an assistant coach for the Sul Ross State University men’s basketball team while working on his master’s degree, will assist new head women’s basketball coach Polly Thomason and take charge of the UTD women’s golf program.
A native of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Holman was a multi-sport athlete at Mount St. Mary’s HS, graduating in 1994. He earned a bachelor’ degree in business administration from Langston University in 2001.
Holman taught and coached on a volunteer basis in the Oklahoma City Public School System while an undergraduate, then coached and taught at Plano East Senior High School in Plano, TX in 2002-03 before enrolling at Sul Ross State to pursue his graduate degree in physical education, which he earned in May 2005. While at Sul Ross, Holman assisted with the Loboes men’s basketball team, which compiled a two-season record of 40-16, winning the 2004 American Southwest Conference championship and advancing to the NCAA Division III Sweet 16.
