Barnett On All-ASC East First Team
Longoria Named To Honorable Mention Squad
RICHARDSON, TX - Senior forward Dani Barnett, who set a University of Texas at Dallas single-season scoring record, was named to the American Southwest Conference All-East Division First Team in the annual post-season voting released Monday.
Barnett, the senior from League City, TX who transferred to UTD after three years at Concordia University in Austin, led the Comets (12-13) with 440 total points for a 17.6 ppg average. She also led the team with a 7.4 per game rebounding average. Barnett scored 20 or more points in 11 of UTD's 25 games this season, and set a school single-game record with 38 points against the University of the Ozarks on Feb. 11.
UTD senior teammate Jen Longoria, who was second on the team with a 10.7 ppg average and shot .356 from the three-point line, was named to the East Division Honorable Mention squad. Longoria, a senior from Spring, TX, was one of three UTD players who finished off a complete four-year career with the Comets.

Stanley and Daniels Headline ASC Women's Basketball Award Winners
RICHARDSON, Texas----- Division Players of the Year Sarah Stanley of the University of Texas at Tyler and Meia Daniels of Howard Payne University lead the list of 2006 women’s basketball postseason award winners announced by the American Southwest Conference following voting by the league's 16 head coaches.
The ASC East Division Player of the Year, Stanley (Rockwall, Texas/RHS) averaged an East Division-best 19.3 points while averaging 4.5 assists in conference games. The junior guard led Texas-Tyler to a share of the ASC East title, its second in as many seasons. Stanley is also a member of the All-ASC and All-East Division teams.
Named ASC West Division Player of the Year, Daniels (Fort Worth, Texas/Fossil Ridge HS) finished the regular season as the second-leading scorer (19.6 ave.) and No. 5 rebounder (8.6 ave.) in conference play. Daniels led Howard Payne to a Top 25 ranking in both Division III polls and a berth in the ASC Championship Tournament. The guard scored 67 points in the Lady Jackets' two ASC tournament games, including a season-high 39 points in the semifinal loss vs. Mary Hardin-Baylor. Daniels is a two-time All-ASC and All-West Division first team selection.
Joining Stanley and Daniels on the all-conference team are sophomore post Tarra Richardson (Fort Worth, Texas/Brewer HS) and junior guard Symbri Tuttle (Arlington, Texas/Lamar HS) of McMurry University; and junior forward Lacey (Palomarez) Kennedy (Brookhaven, Miss.) of Mississippi College.
Richardson and Tuttle, both All-West Division first team picks, led the Lady Indians to their first outright Division title and a second straight appearance in the ASC championship game. Richardson led conference season scoring (20.1 ppg) and field goal percentage (.606). Tuttle was the top assist-maker vs. the league, averaging 8.18 assists with a 5.63 assist-to-turnover ratio. A three-time All-ASC and All-East Division selection, Kennedy led Mississippi College to a share of the ASC East title and a seventh trip to the conference tournament. The junior forward averaged 13.6 points and 7.4 rebounds in conference games.
Other ASC East Division individual award winners include Freshman of the Year Mary Slaughter (Athens, La./AHS) of East Texas Baptist University; Co-Defensive Player of the Year Marzetta Shepard (Atlanta, Texas/AHS) of East Texas Baptist and Ceren Unal (Duncanville, Texas/DHS) of Austin College; and Newcomer of the Year Natalie Jordan (Waynesboro, Miss.) of Mississippi College. Austin College head coach Debra Hunter was named ASC East Division Coach of the Year.
Other ASC West Division individual award winners include Freshman of the Year Kassandra Bills (Pflugerville, Texas/PHS) of Concordia University at Austin; Defensive Player of the Year Danielle Furr (Big Lake, Texas/Reagan County HS) of Sul Ross State University; and Newcomer of the Year Shannon Barnes (Fort Worth, Texas/Southwest HS) of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. McMurry University head coach Sam Nichols was selected as ASC West Coach of the Year.
