Division Leaders Too Much For UTD
Mississippi College 77, UTD 61

CLINTON, MS - The University of Texas at Dallas women's basketball team, having perhaps their most successfull season ever, ran into the American Southwest Conference East Division-leading Mississippi College Lady Choctaws Thursday night, and found them more than they could handle in a 77-61 defeat.

UTD (7-7, 6-5) gave up a pair of big scoring runs that turned what could have been a close game into a runaway win for nationally-ranked MC (12-1, 10-1).

The Comets let a 24-23 lead with 5:20 get away from them just before halftime as MC went on a 16-7 run to take a 39-31 lead into the dressing room. After UTD fought its way back to within a point (48-49) with 11:07 in the game, MC turned on the jets and outscored the Comets 29-12 the remainder of the game.

Jennifer Longoria (pictured) led the Comets with 13 points and seven rebounds. Dani Barnett added 11; but the Lady Choctaws had five scorers finish in double figures. MC also got 34 opportunities at the free-throw line off 23 UTD fouls, including 20 in the second half.
