ETBU Runs Off & Leaves Comets Behind
ETBU 91, UTD 56

MARSHALL, TX - The University of Texas at Dallas women's basketball team got its second straight double/double night from senior Dani Barnett (right), but not much else as East Texas Baptist charged out to a big early lead and never looked back in downing the Comets, 91-56.

Barnett, who had 28 points and 11 boards in a Thursday win at LeTourneau, added 16 more points and 12 rebounds to her weekly total. Unfortunately, she was the only UTD player to finish in double figures.

The Comets (9-8, 8-6) got totally dominated in both halves of the game. UTD trailed 49-27 at halftime, and was outscored 42-29 in the second half. The Comets shot just 33% from the floor, missed 17 of 30 free throws and turned the ball over 26 times. ETBU (13-6, 10-6), which had four players finish in double figures, moved ahead of UTD in the ASC East Division standings with the win.

The Comets were in the game for about the first 12 minutes. Trailing just 20-18 with 8:41 to go before the half, ETBU scored 17 unanswered points to open up the game. The Lady Lions then opened up the second frame with an 18-6 run to stretch its lead to 34 points (67-33) with 12:56 remaining. UTD never got much closer.
