Comet Golfers Save Best For Last at ASC
 ANNA, TX
- The UTD men's golf team and women's golfer Alicia Yoder all rebounded after a frustrating opening day at the American Southwest Conference Golf Championships on Tuesday, but neither was able to dig out of the hole they created a day earlier. The UTD men finished in fourth place, knocking 11 strokes off the 314 they shot the first two rounds to finish with a 931, but still finished well behind team champion Mary Hardin-Baylor (885). Brian Vaughn (pictured) finished 15th with a 230. Yoder (pictured), who was UTD's best hope for individual honors on the women's side, bounced back with a 81 Tuesday after a 92 in the first round ended her chances in the medalist race. Yoder Ties For Medalist
at LETU Tournament

- UTD women's golfer Alicia Yoder continued to stake her claim as one of the top female golfers in the American Southwest Conference over the weekend, tying for medalist honors at the LeTourneau University Spring Classic. Yoder shot a two-round total of 166 to tie with UT-Tyler's Samantha Humphrey, but lost a playoff to Humphrey to just miss out on the individual trophy. ASC members LeTourneau, McMurry, Hardin-Simmons, Mary Hardin-Baylor, Schreiner and UT-Tyler all had teams at the tournament, which is the final tuneup before the ASC Championships next Monday-Tuesday in Anna. West Region Tournament
GEORGETOWN, TX
- The UTD men's golf team battled to a fourth-place finish in a West Region tournament that included several nationally-ranked squads. The Comets finished just 17 strokes behind LaVarne (CA), the top-ranked team in the region; and just six back of Texas Lutheran, the only ASC team to finish ahead of the Comets. - The UTD men's golf team struggled in the second and third rounds of the first annual UTD Spring Golf Classic at a windy Sherrill Park, and settled for a third-place finish behind UT-Tyler and Mary Hardin-Baylor. UTD Men Dominate at Hendrix ClassicJACKSON, MS - The UTD men's golf team blew away the only two other teams in a three-team field at the Hendrix College Spring Classic Golf Tournament, winning the meet by more than 100 strokes. SALADO, TX - UTD golfer Alicia Yoder (pictured) is believed to be the first female golfer in Comet golf history to break the 80-stroke barrier when she shot a 79 in the final round of the UMHB Lady Cru Spring Invitational at Mill Creek GC. Despite shooting a disappointing 94 in the first round, the Longview sophomore combined for a two-round total of 174, to finish in a tie for 12th place in the 70-golfer field. By Just Two Strokes at Tyler
TYLER, TX - UTD women's golfer Alycia Yoder (pictured) finished just two strokes back from the medalist title at the University of Texas at Tyler Fall Invitational Tournament. A withdrawal prevented the women from competing in the team standings, but the Comet men finished in a tie for fifth in the 13-team field. TEMPLE, TX - The UTD men's golf team won its first tournament since its 2002-03 championship season by taking first place at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Fall Invitational Tuesday. UTD shot a team-best 293 on the final day of the tournament to hold off 15 teams with a 36-hole total of 593. Patrick Nolin, a junior from LaPorte, TX, finished second in the medalist race by one stroke with a 73-70-143 while Jesse Forsong and Brent Marshall also finished in the top 10. STORY
Siddique Takes Top 10 Finish
at La. College Tournament
PINEVILLE, LA - UTD's Ryan Siddique, a sophomore golfer from Grapevine finished in a tie for 7th place out of a field of over 40 golfers Tuesday after rain shortened the Louisiana College Tournament to just 27 holes. Siddique shot a 38 Tuesday and finished with a 115. The Comets finished seventh as a team. STORY

RICHARDSON, TX - The University of Texas at Dallas women's golf team finished back in the pack at the first Lady Comet Classic Tournament, played this week at the Canyon Creek Country Club. Comet golfer Alicia Yoder, however, took second place in the medalist race despite slipping a bit in the second round Tuesday. Hardin-Simmons won the team competition. STORY

SEGUIN, TX - The University of Texas at Dallas men's golf team turned a few heads at their first tournament of the fall, finishing square in the middle of a 15-team field at Texas Lutheran University's John Bohmann Memorial Invitational. UTD's men's team - led by Brian Vaughn's (pictured above left) 11th-place finish - shot an 896, finishing just 17 strokes out of a top 5 finish. On the women's side, UTD finished 13th with Alicia Yoder (pictured above right) leading the team with a 181. RESULTS

Comet Men, Women Have Busy Fall Plans
For the first time in several years, Coach Eddie Bull and the UTD men and women's golf teams each have four fall tournaments scheduled, and a deep enough roster to field teams throughout the year. Both teams will travel to Seguin to open the fall schedule on Sept. 10-11. The UTD women then host their own tournament, Sept. 17-18, at Canyon Creek Country Club.
