Trio of UTD Hoopsters Named To ASC's
2008 All-East Division Honor Teams
mugmugmug(Left to right) Junior Ernie Lowery, sophomore Jordan Eppink and freshman Jimmy Witten were all named as members of 2008 American Southwest Conference All-East Division teams. Lowery was a second-team All-Division player while Eppink was named as part of the honorable mention squad. Witten was chosen as one of five players in the East Division for the All-ASC East Freshman Team. STORY

Concordia's Big Second Half Ends UTD's
Season With 89-78 Quarterfinal Loss
mugBELTON, TX - The UTD men's basketball team saw an 8-point halftime lead evaporate quickly and bowed out of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Friday with an 89-78 loss to Concordia-Texas. UTD (17-9) finished the first half on a 23-7 run to take a 37-29 lead into the dressing room, but gave up a 19-8 Concordia run to open the second half and could not keep up the rest of the way as the Tornados nailed four big 3-pointers and were 18-of-20 shooting at the foul line after halftime. UTD ended the game hitting just three of 26 3-point attempts and was just 7-for-13 at the line in the second period. It was the third straight year UTD has lost its opening-round game at the ASC Tournament. STORY

UTD's Ernie Lowery - one of the top players on the Comet men's basketball team - has been elected to the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America)/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 6 teams. Lowery, a junior his team and has a cumulative grade point average above 3.7. STORY
