Twenty-Four Comets Academic All-ASC

Student-Athletes From Six Spring Sports Honored For Classroom Work

RICHARDSON, TX - Twenty-four University of Texas at Dallas student-athletes from six spring sports have earned American Southwest Conference Academic All-Conference recognition, the ASC office announced this week.

Nine players from the UTD softball team, seven from baseball, six tennis players and two golfers were among the 332 student-athletes recognized league-wide from 15 colleges and universities. The Spring 2008 All-Academic team also included student-athletes from track and field.

To be eligible for ASC All-Academic honors, student-athletes must have lettered in the spring 2008 season, be in at least the second academic year at their institution, and carry a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 or better. A total of 49 student athletic trainers and student sports information directors were also honored.
