Larry Gardner's Staff Wins Award For Second Time In Last Three Years
RICHARDSON, TX - The athletic training staffs at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and the University of Texas at Dallas were each named by their peers as Division winners of the American Southwest Conference Athletic Training Staff of the Year award for the 2006-07 academic year. The two institutions, who also took home the inaugural awards in 2004-05, were honored on Monday (Dec. 10) during the annual ASC Athletic Trainers meeting in Dallas.
Mary Hardin-Baylor was presented the West Division award. UMHB head athletic trainer Jimmy Rowton was assisted in 2006-07 by Elizabeth Finch and Billy Ray Laxton.
Texas-Dallas was presented the East Division award. UTD head athletic trainer Larry Gardner was assisted in 2006-07 by Shermin Romer and Kurt Kammerer.
The ASC Athletic Training Staff of the Year award is presented by the conference following voting by the membership’s athletic training staffs. All full-time athletic training staff members must be in good standing with professional organizations and be either NATA or state licensed, and the head athletic trainer must have been at the institution for a minimum of two years to be considered for the award.
The 2006-07 awards are the third presented by the ASC. Hardin-Simmons University (West) and East Texas Baptist University (East) were honored last year.
