Timely Hitting, Solid Pitching Leads To 5-1 Start For UTD
RICHARDSON, TX - The UTD baseball team bounced back from a disappointing loss at the end of their weekend series with Hendrix to take a pair Tuesday from Castleton State College of Vermont.
UTD swept the two-game set, 9-1 and 3-0, behind a pair of solid pitching outtings from Brad Buchanan and David Shaw (pictured at right).
Buchanan allowed just four hits and struck out four in five innings of work in Game 1, which UTD put away with a big five-run fourth capped by a three-run home run from designated hitter Chad Hudson (pictured near right).
In a pitching duel in Game 2, Shaw allowed just three hits in his five innings of work and struck out five. Chris Biguenet (pictured, far right) came up with the first hit for UTD, but his 2-RBI double came with two runners on after walks. UTD added an insurance run in the fourth to put the game away.
