UTD Freshman Wins ASC Weekly Award

Jimmy Witten Named ASC East Division Player of the Week

RICHARDSON, TX - University of Texas at Dallas freshman wing Jimmy Witten has been named the American Southwest Conference East Division Player of the Week after a team-leading performance in last week's 82-72 win over Austin College.

Witten, a freshman from Houston Clear Lake High School, scored 19 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out three assists to help the Comets shake off the cobwebs from a 10-day break and defeat Austin College on the road. Witten, who also had a steal, shot 83.3 percent from the field and hit nine free throws.

Witten has come on strong for the 5-1 Comets, leading the team with a 7.3 rebounding average and is second on the squad, averaging 11.5 points per game.
