Comets Open ASC With Pair of Road Wins
UTD Improves To 8-2 Overall With 3-1 Wins Over UMHB, UT-Tyler
BELTON/TYLER, TX - The UTD volleyball team opened its defense of the American Southwest Conference East Division co-championship with a pair of 3-1 road wins over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and the University of Texas at Tyler.
UTD (now 8-2 overall) split its first two games with both teams, then took care of the match by winning Games 3 and 4.
UTD defeated UMHB, 30-25, 23-30, 30-19, 30-26, Saturday behind a combined 32-kill performance from freshmen Amber Wetz and Stephanie Waller (pictured above). On Tuesday, UTD easily took the first game, 30-15, but lost a 25-30 decision on the second game before rallying to take the match, 30-21 and 30-15. Wetz again led the way with 15 kills along with Patricia Allen's (pictured at right) 10. The Comets combined for 15.5 blocks in the match.
