| Putman came to UTD last season after two seasons as an all-conference starter at Texas Wesleyan for two years, leading the team in home runs and batting average. Didn't show any signs of a one-year layoff at the plate, as he hit .348 for the Comets, knocked six home runs and drove in 40 runs as UTD's regular catcher. Earned honorable mention All-ASC East Division honors, and will be attempting to do it again in 2007. His Dallas Jesuit HS team won a state title in 1999 and again qualified for the playoffs in 2000.
