Looking for a place to play highly-competitive
intercollegiate athletics at a first-rate public university...?
The
University of Texas at Dallas is a great place to start. UTD
offers its student-athletes a unique blend of opportunities –
the chance to play highly-competitive, Division III non-scholarship
athletics while attending one of the fast-growing and most highly-respected
public universities in the Southwest.
>>FACILITIES
UTD student-athletes are able to utilize some
of the finest athletic facilities in all of Division III, highlighted
by the $11.5 million UTD Activity Center – which includes a
fitness facility/weight room, swimming pool, racquetball/squash courts
and a 2,500-seat arena for basketball and other sports. UTD also has
its own fully-lighted soccer complex, as well as facilities for baseball
and softball. Within the next year, further additions and renovations
are planned to raise the level of UTD facilities even higher.
>>QUALITY EDUCATION
But there’s more to playing intercollegiate athletics at UT-Dallas
than high-caliber competition and top-notch facilities. UTD students
have the opportunity to gain an education at an institution with a
first-rate reputation. The University of Texas at Dallas was originally
established by the founders of Texas Instruments as a graduate research
institute, but has become one of the most academically-competitive,
four-year universities in the Southwest. Students are able to work
side-by-side with a world-renowned faculty and assist in cutting-edge
research in such areas as space sciences, digital encryption, audiology,
sickle cell disease and nanotechnology. It’s little surprise
that the student body consistently ranks among the highest levels
within the state of Texas.
>>LOCATION
The UTD campus is located in suburban Richardson, Texas, 18 miles
north of downtown Dallas. Students are able to study in a quieter
suburban setting, but are able to take advantage of the many recreational,
cultural and sports activities of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan
area. In addition, UTD is located in an area known as the Telecom
Corridor – an excellent location for those who desire employment
in the telecommunications or scientific fields.
>>LIFESTYLE
Rather than traditional dormitories, students at UTD may live on-campus
in the Waterview Park Apartments – a full-size complex that
offers students more space, convenience and independence.
