Travis Carruthers
, a record-setting point guard who played four seasons for the Comets and was a co-winner of the team MVP Award as a senior in 2006-07, is the new assistant men's basketball coach.

In his four-year playing career, Carruthers set a number school records, and is the UTD career leader in assists (411) and was one of the nation's leaders in NCAA Division III during his junior season when he had 159 assists in 26 games. He also holds UTD career marks in free throw shooting (.878) and three-point shooting (.385). Won the starting point guard position in 2004-05 and finished his career three seasons later as the co-winner of the UTD Male Student-Athlete of the Year award. A native of Georgetown, Texas, he earned his Interdisciplinary Studies degree from UTD in 2007.
