Marci Sanders
Head Volleyball Coach

Marci Sanders joined the UTD Athletics staff in January 2004 to launch the school's inaugural women's volleyball program, and has qualified a team for the American Southwest Conference (ASC) championship tournament in each of the program's first three seasons.

She was the ASC East Division Coach of the Year in 2006 after the Comets posted a program-best 24-7 record, won an ASC East Division co-championship and advanced all the way to the ASC championship game.

A record-setting outside hitter as a player at ASU in 1997-1998, Sanders served four years as an assistant coach at ASU prior to becoming UTD's head coach. She was a three-time all-district player at Amarillo (TX) Palo Duro High School and began her collegiate career at the College of the Southwest in New Mexico, where she was a team MVP after two seasons. After moving to ASU, she set several ASU, Lone Star Conference and NCAA Division II records, and was voted to the GTE Academic All-America Team.

Sanders was a summa cum laude graduate at ASU in 1999 with a kinesiology degree, then earned a master's degree and taught on the ASU faculty. In addition to her coaching duties at ASU, Sanders has worked with various volleyball camps and with local club teams. She is USA IMPACT, CAP I & CAP II certified.
