UTD Coach, Four Players Honored On 2008 ASC All-East Division Squads
UTD women's basketball coach Polly Thomason (near right) was a co-winner of the American Southwest Conference East Division Coach of the Year award while two of her players were chosen among the best in the division as part of the All-ASC awards announced Monday. Sophomore guard Chelsea Edwards (middle) became only the second player in UTD history to win First-Team All-East Division recognition while senior Ericka Baker (right) was selected as the East Division's Defensive Player of the Year. Two other Comets - Jenise Langston and Lauren Hale - were also recognized. STORY

Second-Half Pressure Allows Nationally-
Ranked McM To Pull Away From Comets
TYLER, TX - The UTD women's basketball team stayed with the nationally-ranked McMurry women for about three-quarters of their Friday quarterfinals meeting at the ASC Championship Tournament, but the 23-3 McMurry team used second-half defensive pressure to build a lead UTD could not overcome in a 68-54 loss. The Comets had only 21 second half points after trailing by just two at halftime. UTD ended its season at 16-10, their best record ever. STORY

Baker Earns Spot On CoSIDA Academic All-District Squad
UTD's Ericka Baker - one of the top players on the Comet women's basketball team - has been elected to the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America)/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 6 teams. Baker, a senior, was one of the top scorers on her team and has a cumulative grade point average above 3.7 as a psychology major. STORY

On All-Division Squads
RICHARDSON, TX - The UTD women's basketball team had three players honored in the American Southwest Conference All-East Division post-season squads. Freshman Chelsea Edwards (pictured at right) topped the list, earning second-team All-East Division honors as well as a spot on the East Division All-Defensive and All-Freshman teams. Junior Ericka Baker and senior Jenna Harris were honorable mention selections while Baker was also on the All-Defensive squad. STORY
