RICHARDSON, TX (10.30.09) – Both UT Dallas seniors were given a fitting send-off before Friday’s match against LeTourneau. Then, in front of a boisterous home crowd on Senior Night, each made an impact in the Comets’ 3-0 win over the YellowJackets to secure UTD’s spotless record.

Pattie Allen registered nine kills, Kyleigh Irish had seven, and the Comets moved to 12-0 all-time against last-place LETU by a score of 25-12, 25-20, 25-17.

Freshman Dana Hilzendager, the reigning ASC East Division Offensive Player of the Week, led the way with 15 kills and six digs, but it was Allen’s and Irish’s night at the UTD Activity Center. In fact, Allen and Irish accounted for the Comets’ final two kills of the match, respectively, before Melanie Power’s ace sealed the win in the final game.

UTD used an 8-0 run in the first game to gain early momentum, but LETU fired back midway through the second and earned its first lead of the match, 12-11. Hilzendager responded with three straight kills—part of a 7-1 UTD run—followed by three more from Allen, and the Comets never looked back.

With the win, UTD (22-0, 16-0) remains the only undefeated volleyball program in NCAA III. UW-Oshkosh (31-1, 8-0) entered last weekend’s action as the only other team with an unblemished mark, but lost a 3-1 decision to UW-Whitewater on Oct. 23.

The Comets will face off against UT Tyler (10-19, 3-12) in the regular season finale on Oct. 31 before hosting the ASC Tournament, which begins Nov. 6.
