University of Texas at Dallas

RICHARDSON, TX (05.01.09) – Twenty-four University of Texas at Dallas student-athletes were named to the American Southwest Conference's Spring 2009 Academic All-Conference Squad.

To be eligible, student-athletes must be letter-winners in their sport, be in at least their second year of of attendance at UTD and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.

The UTD baseball team led the way for the Comets with eight honorees while the men's and women's tennis teams also combined for eight selections. Five golfers and three softball players were also named to the squad.

The UTD Athletic Department was also able to nominate an outstanding student-athlete from each sport for the ASC's Distinguished Student-Athlete team. UTD's selections were Neal Gordon (baseball), Heather Harydzak (softball), Susan Heston (women's tennis), Donald Kasitinon (men's tennis), Brian Vaughn (men's golf) and Kristine Chen (women's golf).
